About lokol
lokol is an Australian technology company building the trust index for commerce. It turns recommendations from publishers, creators and experts into verified, licensed endorsements called Soundbites, matched to the products they recommend.
Retailers use lokol to put trusted recommendations on product pages and measure their impact on sales. Brands can activate ambassador and creator content they already have permission to use, then add licensed recommendations from other trusted voices. Publishers and creators retain ownership of their content and share in revenue from agreed commercial uses.
Two careers, one conviction.
Founded by Neil Ackland and Aaron Wallis. lokol was founded in Australia by Neil Ackland, co-founder and CEO, and Aaron Wallis, co-founder and CTO. They first worked together in the mid-2000s and reunited to build lokol, combining experience in publishing, retail media and customer data infrastructure.

Neil Ackland
Co-founder and CEO
Neil founded Junkee Media and built it into one of Australia’s most awarded digital publishers, before its sale to ASX-listed oOh!media in 2017. Following the sale, he joined oOh!’s executive team as CMO and launched reo, its retail media arm working with major retailers. His career has been spent helping people discover the things they love, across media, creators, publishers and retail media.
“We believe trusted voices become more valuable in a world increasingly shaped by AI. The companies that treat trust as infrastructure, licensing recommendations with consent, protecting their provenance and compounding their value, will shape how the next era of discovery works. That is the company we are building.”

Aaron Wallis
Co-founder and CTO
Aaron co-founded Lexer, one of Australia’s leading customer data platforms, powering some of Australia’s largest retailers. He led product and engineering there for over a decade, building the infrastructure behind how major retailers understand their customers.
